A number of events from around the world that are recognized as unprecedented in magnitude or impact. In Australia for example 2019-20 has seen very extensive areas of prolonged drought, elevated temperatures, widespread catastrophic bushfires over a much longer "bushfire season". Then the Coronavirus was reported which reached Australia in January 2020.
In other parts of the world we have seen disastrous bushfires in California and the Amazon, escalating glacier retreat in the polar regions as well as in the mountains, shortages of drinking water and so on.
We will be adding articles and links to this section.

Bushfires
Whilst bushfires occur around the world, several specific recent fires have caught the attention of the world. The fires in the Amazon and California have been in the media.
However, the devastating fires over the 2019-20 summer in Australia were the worst in terms of area burnt, their rapid and sometimes random spread along with the impact on communities.
As the Australian fires were the stimulus for the creation of this website I will draw on local experiences.

Social Movements
A number of social movements have engaged people around the world perhaps at an unprecedented rate owing to the widespread and instant access to information and images.
Social media and the internet have enabled many groups to have a voice and reach out to a wide audience.
Whilst there will be widely differing views, our perception is that these movements have grappled with big questions of what is, or should be, considered morally and ethically right as well as a stepping stone towards a framework of standards for humanity.
The Black Lives Matter movement is a case in point with support around the world. In Australia it sparked a resurgence of the Indigenous Deaths in Custody issue that has been around for some forty years.
